A little bit about me…

As a child, I enjoyed running, jumping, skipping which I was great at. In primary school I played basketball, took part in gymnastics and Irish dancing, all of which I was totally mediocre at - but I did love to move! Things improved in secondary school and I developed a real grá for athletics - particularly and not surprisingly, running and jumping. I left school with a passion for health and fitness which remains a constant in my life.

I first qualified as a fitness instructor and personal trainer in 1994, but my career took a little bit of a detour into the magical land of advertising production.  After taking stock and updating my fitness qualifications in 2013 with an EQF Level 4 certification in fitness instruction and personal training from the National Training College, I subsequently added an advanced diploma in Pilates matwork also from NTC.

My interest in Pilates developed when I discovered not only a challenging exercise system, but one which could provide injury prevention, aid with rehabilitation and offer so many practical benefits to us in our everyday lives.

I started attending yoga classes in the early 2000s. The physical and mental benefits quickly became apparent and my interest and appreciation for yoga developed. Following years of yoga classes, workshops and retreats, I eventually enrolled for the 200-hour yoga teacher training with Samyak Yoga in Mysore, India in 2017 and subsequently completed my 500-hour teacher training with The Yoga Room in Dublin in 2020. In September 2022 I joined the teaching staff at the National Training Centre, where I am now a tutor on their Advanced Diploma in Pilates Matwork.

I am very grateful to have these disciplines in my life, along with morning meditation they help keep me mentally and physically healthy and I feel very lucky that I get to share them with my clients.
